Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly responded to criticism from the opposition over the alleged Ram Temple theft case in Ayodhya. Addressing the issue, the Chief Minister said that Ayodhya has become a major spiritual and cultural destination attracting millions of devotees and tourists, and alleged that the opposition is attempting to tarnish its image by amplifying a single incident.
Yogi Adityanath stated that the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust itself requested a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged theft. According to him, an FIR was registered based on the SIT’s findings, and legal action was initiated against those against whom evidence was found. He said this demonstrates that the matter was handled transparently and in accordance with the law.
The Chief Minister also questioned the Samajwadi Party and Congress over what he described as their silence on alleged irregularities involving Waqf land. He claimed that while the opposition has been vocal about the Ram Temple case, it has not raised similar concerns regarding allegations of misuse or illegal sale of Waqf properties. He argued that such issues also deserve equal public attention.
Yogi further alleged that some political parties raise sensitive religious and caste-related issues ahead of elections to create divisions in society. He maintained that the people of Uttar Pradesh are more focused on development, governance, and accountability than on political controversies.
The opposition, however, has maintained that questions surrounding the alleged Ram Temple theft deserve a fair and transparent investigation. Political reactions from both sides continue, making the issue a significant topic of debate in Uttar Pradesh.
