The statement was made during an important hearing on petitions alleging irregularities in the medical entrance examination.
The Centre assured the apex court that maintaining the integrity of national-level examinations remains a matter of highest priority and that every necessary step is being taken to restore public confidence.
During the proceedings, the Supreme Court expressed serious concern over repeated incidents of examination paper leaks in the country. The court emphasized that the sanctity and credibility of competitive examinations must be protected, particularly when the future of lakhs of students is at stake.
The bench questioned whether enough safeguards were in place to prevent such incidents and stressed the need for stronger accountability mechanisms.

Officials stated that the agency is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in future examinations.
According to submissions made before the court, the government highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely supervising the situation and receiving regular updates on the investigation and corrective measures being undertaken.
The Centre stated that all concerned agencies are working together to ensure that deserving students are not affected by malpractice or administrative lapses.
The controversy erupted after allegations surfaced that the NEET-UG question paper had been leaked before the examination. The issue led to nationwide protests, political criticism, and multiple petitions in the Supreme Court demanding accountability and examination reforms.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the alleged leak and related irregularities. Investigators are examining possible links involving organised networks and individuals suspected of facilitating the malpractice.
The NEET paper leak controversy has triggered a larger national debate on examination security and the functioning of testing agencies in India. Education experts and students have called for stronger technological safeguards, institutional reforms, and stricter punishment for those involved in paper leak cases.
The Supreme Court is expected to continue hearing petitions related to the matter in the coming weeks.
