India Condemns Pakistan Over PoJK Crackdown, Calls Actions ‘Absolute Disdain’ for Human Rights,

India has strongly criticized Pakistan over its alleged crackdown on peaceful protesters in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), calling the actions an “absolute disdain” for the rights and dignity of innocent civilians. Addressing a press briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Pakistan’s handling of the protests exposes its disregard for democratic principles and basic human rights. He accused the Pakistani establishment of using excessive force against civilians instead of addressing their legitimate concerns.

Jaiswal further stated that the Pakistani establishment has continued to unleash ruthless force on peaceful protesters in PoJK, resulting in the tragic deaths of more than 40 civilians and leaving many others seriously injured. He also criticized remarks made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, alleging that branding protesting civilians as “enemies” demonstrates the government’s hostile approach toward its own people. According to India, these developments reflect an attempt to suppress the legitimate voices of the people in PoJK rather than resolving their grievances through dialogue.

The MEA reiterated that India remains deeply concerned about the reported human rights situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and urged the international community to take note of the treatment of civilians in the region. India maintained that the repeated use of force against peaceful demonstrators raises serious questions about Pakistan’s commitment to democratic values, transparency, and the protection of fundamental freedoms. The remarks come amid increasing international attention on developments in PoJK, with India asserting that the rights and aspirations of the local population should be respected and protected.
